THE GOOD HOME STEAKS
WHERE IN TARANAKI DO THEY COME FROM?
The Kiwi Butcher Shop originally started life as Martins Butchery up on Brooklands Road in New Plymouth.
Peter Morrison began his apprenticeship there in 1967, over 50 years ago. He worked his way up the ranks,
becoming the proud owner of Martins Butchery.
In 2002 the butchery moved to Leach St, and the butchery name was changed to ‘The Kiwi Butcher Shop’ to
personify the NZ Butchers’ way of life, making traditional products, the old fashioned way and providing
a service with that personal touch.
In April 2019, Stephen became the proud new owner of The Kiwi Butcher Shop – Keeping it in the Morrison
family. Peter, son Stephen and grandson Jamie, all work in the butchery today.
Over the years, The Kiwi Butcher Shop has picked up numerous Gold , Silver & Bronze medals for their
Sausages, Saveloys & Bacons. Our supply of beef and pork is supported by local farmers, with animals grown
and reared on Taranaki soil. From the farm, to the butcher, to your plate to enjoy.
We hope you enjoy your delicious Taranaki steak!
